Rector
The Rev. Timothy P. Perkins, SSC

The Reverend Timothy P. Perkins, SSC, is the fifth rector of St. Mark’s Church, Arlington.  He is a 1989 graduate of Nashotah House and began his ordained ministry as the Vicar of St. Mark’s, Coleman, in the Diocese of Northwest Texas.  From there, he and his family were called to sojourn away from their Texas homeland; and he served on the staff of St. Luke’s Parish, Baton Rouge, Louisiana where the second rector of St. Mark’s, Arlington and current Bishop of Louisiana, the Right Reverend Charles Jenkins, III was serving as rector.

Fr. Perkins began his present ministry in August of 1995, and he is the longest tenured priest who has served St. Mark’s parish.  During this time, three capital campaigns and several building projects have been completed, including the construction of the new Church, which was consecrated February 14, 2007.

In addition to his parish duties, Fr. Perkins has served the Diocese of Fort Worth in several capacities, including two terms on the Executive Council.  He previously co-chaired the Christian Education Committee and chaired the Worship Commission before receiving Bishop Iker’s appointment in 2004 to serve as Diocesan Liturgist, a position he continues to hold.  He also presently serves as a member of the Standing Committee.

Before undertaking his theological education, Fr. Perkins studied music at Abilene Christian University, the University of Texas, San Antonio, and the University of Maryland, completing both bachelors and masters degrees.  Over the past decade he has appeared regularly throughout the Metroplex, performing professionally both as a soloist and chorister with such organizations as the Renaissance Consort of Fort Worth, the Helios Ensemble, the Orchestra of New Spain, and the Dallas Bach Society.  Along with Kathy Fox Powell, he reconstituted the St. Ambrose Singers as an extension of the ministry of St. Mark’s Church.

His family includes his wife of 34 years, Jody (Spencer) and their three wonderful children, Christopher (“Kit”—27), Clare (20 in April!), and Spencer ( 17 in July).  They are all lovers of the outdoors, the arts, good food and drink, and the companionship of their loved ones.
