Summer Choir
The regular Parish Choir completes its program year on Trinity Sunday, and Summer Choir begins! Summer Choir rehearses only on the first Wednesday of each month (beginning with Parish Evensong), plus 9:45 AM on Sundays. Community Service – A Bi-Directional Gift
St. Mark’s had a need – the fence surrounding the storage pod needed to be painted, both for maintenance and to restore its appearance. Boles Junior High AVID students needed community service hours for their course requirements. On Saturday, April 27, 2013, 14 7th and 8th grade students, 3 moms and a 4th grader painted the pod fence in time for our annual St. Mark’s Day celebration. Many blessings resulted from this effort. Pictures of this event can be found in the Photo Gallery of the St. Mark’s website. St. Mark’s Church thanks Eli, Ben, Liz, Anna, Camden, James, Joseph, Yamiah, Vanessa, Hailey, Karina, Marianna, Ethan, Jose Alberto Duenas, Kathy, Amy, and Stephen for the gift of their time and effort to help St. Mark’s with this special need.
Africa Day
The first planning meeting for 2013 Africa Day will be Trinity Sunday (May 26) immediately following the 10:30 liturgy. Everyone is welcome to join us in the conference room (you don’t need to be from Africa!). For more information, please contact Janeth Okoronkwo or contact the Parish Office via email stmark99@sbcglobal.net or by phone (817-277-6871)..
Schedule Change
Wednesday Bible Study will be in recess for May 22 and May 29 due to Diocesan meetings for Fr. Crosthwait.
St. Michael’s Conference
Registration is open for this summer’s St. Michael’s Conference Southwest. Led by clergy of our Diocese, St. Mike’s 2013 is scheduled for June 9-15 at Camp Crucis. This is a terrific week of instruction and fellowship for young Anglicans aged 12 to 19. Tuition is $335 for the week per child. All the information needed, plus online registration, is at stmichaelsw.org.
Feast of Pentecost
The Great Fifty Days are zipping by quickly and the Feast of Pentecost is approaching – Sunday, May 19 – it is the BIRTHDAY OF THE CHURCH! How will you commemorate this important day: We suggest: Eve of Pentecost – Saturday May 18, 6 PM. The annual Liturgy of Vespers will be sung by our Parish Choir and friends. This is an ancient liturgy focusing on the Magnificat and Psalms. The musical settings for this year’s Liturgy of Vespers are by Spanish composers Victoria and Guerrero, and Italian composers Palestrina and Soriano. The Nursery will be staffed, and a reception will follow the liturgy. Please come and bring friends!
International Food Festival
Sunday, May 19, immediately following the 10:30 liturgy, we will have our International Food Festival. Please sign up in Kennedy Hall for the region of the world (including states outside of Texas) for which you want to bring representative food. The Committee will organize and put the final touches on the details. Thank you to all who have already signed up!
Send a Child to Camp
Scholarships are needed. Father Crosthwait has asked that any who are able to either sponsor a child for camp or make a contribution toward a scholarship so that as many of St. Mark’s youngsters as possible are able to go to either St. Michael’s Conference or Summer Camp at Camp Crucis. St. Michael’s Conference fee is $335 and Summer Camp fee is $375. Please be generous.
Friends, Romans, Countrymen
Fr. Crosthwait is beginning a new series of studies of St. Paul’s Letter to the Romans at Wednesday Bible Study, Brotherhood of St. Andrew and Sunday’s Adult Forum. Please plan to participate in one or more of these venues for scripture study and discussion.
Brotherhood of St. Andrew
The Brotherhood of St. Andrew will NOT meet Saturday, May 25th at 7:30 AM but will convene during the breakfast on Trinity Sunday.
West Disaster Relief
Two banks in West have set up accounts for disaster assistance. If you would like to contribute, send your contribution to Point West Bank, 200 W. Oak Street, West, TX 76691 or State National Bank, PO Box 98, West, TX 76691. West’s First Baptist Church has set up an account to receive cash donations, too. The church was badly damaged, but is hosting two disaster relief teams. That address is FBC West, 501 N. Marable Street, West, TX 76691.
Reprints of Directory Photos For any photos that were taken by Jack Unzicker for the directory, anyone is welcome to order prints from this website: jackunzicker.zenfolio.com/stmarksdirectory. It is best to purchase as many prints as you think you could ever need, as the prints are relatively inexpensive compared to the shipping costs. You may also minimize shipping costs by combining your order with friends who are also ordering. If you have any questions, feel free to contact Jack at jackunzicker@gmail.com.
Pictorial Directories
If there are any changes to the information in the Parish Directory, we’d really appreciate your letting us know by contacting the Parish Office via email stmark99@sbcglobal.net or by phone (817-277-6871) so that we can correct them on the next update. If you haven’t received your directory, you can get yours at the Parish Office Wednesday through Friday, or pick it up on Sunday.
Bibles for Camp Crucis
This year’s Summer Camp theme at Camp Crucis is “Walking in the Word.” Once again, a number of children from Union Gospel Mission and the Angel Tree program will have the opportunity to spend a week in a haven of love and care as part of the camp program. The clergy team planning the summer curriculum wants to be sure there are plenty of Bibles on hand during each session for those campers who may not have a Bible to bring with them. If you can, please send a check to: Camp Crucis, 2875 Camp Crucis Court, Granbury, TX 76048, with “Bibles” in the memo line.
Bishop Iker Challenge Golf Tournament
The date for the 13th Annual Bishop Iker Challenge Golf Tournament has been set for Friday, June 7th and will once again be played at Squaw Valley Golf Course in Glen Rose. The format will be a 4-person scramble. We urge you to mark this important date on your calendars and begin putting your team together now. This will enable you to get your entry in early. If anyone needs help finding a team, contact your Parish Coordinator Jack Sinclair.
Note: Anyone may make a cash donation to further help Camp Crucis and the wonderful work being done there. This year’s proceeds will be used to provide 40 scholarships for summer camp at Camp Crucis for those who need financial aid, as well as to enhance the existing facility to keep it competitive with other camps. In this way we can continue to further God’s work through our children.

Offering Envelopes
If you currently donate to St. Mark’s (or wish to do so) but do not have offering envelopes, please pick up a set of envelopes from the Visitors table in the narthex. Don’t forget to write your name on the envelope so that we can credit your giving record!
Book Sales
If you have books, books on tape, videos, or DVD’s cluttering up your home, please bring them to the bookshelf in the sitting area in Kennedy Hall or contact the Parish Office via email stmark99@sbcglobal.net or via phone (817-277-6871) for pick up. This is an ongoing fundraiser to supplement Operating Funds.
Grocery Store Card Links
Another great way to benefit St. Mark's with a minimum of effort! If you shop at Tom Thumb, pick up a Reward Card (or use your current one) and link it to #5052. If you shop at Albertsons, you can use a Community Partners Card similarly. If you shop at Kroger, pick up an instruction letter from the Narthex to have your card linked to St. Mark’s. If you have previously linked your Kroger Plus card to St. Mark’s, you will need to renew the link for another year beginning July 1. Inquire for details at the Parish Office (817-277-6871). In all 3 cases, a portion of your purchases will be donated to St. Mark’s Building Fund.
Money Saving Tips
1. At Kroger and Tom Thumb, if you purchase gift cards at those stores (except bank cards) you get bonus gas points. So if you get in the habit of buying and using gift cards for places you frequent all the time, you spend no more money, but actually save (due to gas credits) and also help St. Mark’s with the purchase. Pretty nifty!
2. Receive 10% off groceries at Albertson’s on Dallas Cowboys game day when you wear your Dallas Cowboys jersey (restrictions apply).
Soup Kitchen
The Soup Kitchen serves lunch from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM every Thursday in Kennedy Hall.
Cartridges For Kids
Cartridges for Kids (a Waste Management Company) is an ongoing fundraiser at St. Mark’s. We mail items to the company, they mail us back a check. Below is a list of just some of the items we can send and be paid for. Please leave items for donation on the bookshelf in the sitting area in Kennedy Hall. This is an easy way to help St. Mark’s and clean out your closets too!
