Christian Education - Vacation Bible School

If you “missed the boat” on Wednesday, you can still take a ride on the Arky Arky before it sets sail after the drought we have been having. The animals have dispersed, and Noah and his family are waiting in the shade for the rain to begin.

Who built the Ark? Phillip Herr assisted Noah in building the Ark and all the children at VBS were able to fit in the boat. What a wonderful and willing group of young people we were blessed to have at VBS! Lynn Herr designed a beautiful rainbow which all of the children were drawn-in to create.

And what was at the end of the rainbow? Why, St. Mark’s Church of course!

Sandy Virden provided much help with ideas, supplies and a video of Noah and the Ark, which the children watched during their snack time. The snack was a replica of the Ark; made from taco shells, graham crackers, peanut butter and pretzels, made by our (oh-so-helpful) kitchen angels, Ann Harmon, Debbie Wade, Jan West, Joann Ackerman, Lynn Herr and Phil Herr.

Christy Camarillo
taught the songs, and Sunshine Davis read the bible stories.

Amanda Oyeka, who was the Bishop’s Personal Assistant, also was our official photographer and took many pictures of the day.

Jacob and Jennifer Hayes helped with so many areas; one especially important one was herding the little animals. Jacob was our computer techie and the Slip-and-Slide aficionado. The Hayeses also helped with the clean-up along with our expert kitchen angels.

Renee Ackerman Norris directed a wonderful play with all 23 children and Bishop Ackerman playing “GOD.” Can you believe she was able to put this play together with only one rehearsal and two dress rehearsals? Nothing is impossible with God!

Chief Cook and Organizer, Lynne Ackerman Shattuck provided a flawless schedule, excellent registration with permission forms and a delicious Penne Pasta dinner.

If we left out anyone it was purely unintentional and we apologize. Noah just has a short memory.

And “the rains came down and flood came up.” So you better “get on board” or you may be left “standing in the rain.”
