1 Corinthians

1:1-9—“The church of God” is to be marked by holiness:  “sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints…”

God himself calls the Church into being:  “God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship…”

1:10-17—The Church is to:  “be united in the same mind and the same judgment.” “Is Christ divided?”

1:18-25—The foundational teaching is: “the word of the cross… Christ crucified” (“stumbling block” and “folly”)

1:26-31—The Wisdom of God over worldly wisdom

2:1-5—“I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified.”  Faith rests in “the power of God.”

2:6-10b—Our wisdom comes by the Holy Spirit, the mystery of revelation.

QUESTIONS FOR DISCUSSION:

1.      What have you found to be distinctive about practicing your Christian faith as an Anglican?

2.      Do you think of this parish and diocese as “catholic” or “protestant,” and why?
