The Curate's Corner

Dear Good People of St. Mark’s,

Alleluia.  Christ is risen. The Lord is risen indeed.  Alleluia.

Happy Easter!  As we move into this most joyous season of the Christian year, together let us realize with the disciples that the tomb is truly EMPTY!  Let it dawn on us that everything that Jesus said and did was fulfilled in this saving act of redemption.  Let us rejoice with them and proclaim Him to be the Son of God.  He has truly conquered death by his own death and opened for all who believe in Him the gateway to eternal life.  My dear friends, the tomb is truly empty and our Lord has risen indeed.  Let us rejoice in the Lord our God and be glad indeed!

In your rejoicing over the next fifty days of this Easter season, allow yourself to truly experience with the disciples the various appearances of Jesus.  By these appearances let Jesus help you to understand the true significance of this action of salvation completed by God Himself.  Understand with the disciples on the road to Emmaus that Jesus is present with them as He breaks the loaf of bread at the table.  With Thomas see the pierced hands, feet, and side of Jesus and with him confess, “My Lord and my God.”  And finally listen to the Great Commission and watch as Jesus ascends to the right hand of God the Father and know that He will reign there forever.  My friends this Easter season truly rejoice and be glad for OUR LORD HAS RISEN INDEED!

Faithfully in Christ,

The Rev. Charles A. Hough, IV
